Goshawk & Pheasant

This full-sleeve tattoo design, drawn in Seoul, depicts a goshawk hunting a male pheasant in Korea’s natural ecosystem.

Goshawks and pheasants both occur in Korea, and pheasants are part of the goshawk’s natural prey. When drawing Korean nature, I wanted to include not only its quiet scenery, but also the moments of pursuit and survival within it.

I placed the descending goshawk above the rising male pheasant, holding them at the moment just before the strike. Scattered feathers connect their movement, allowing the tension between predator and prey to continue from shoulder to wrist.

참매가 장끼를 사냥하는 장면을 통해 우리나라 생태계를 긴팔 도안으로 그렸습니다.

참매와 꿩은 모두 우리나라에서 살아가는 새입니다. 한국의 자연을 그릴 때 고요한 풍경만이 아니라, 그 안에서 살아가는 순간도 함께 담고 싶었습니다.

위에서 내려오는 참매와 날아오르는 장끼를 부딪히기 직전의 거리로 두고, 사냥과 생존의 긴장이 어깨부터 손목까지 한 장면으로 이어지도록 구성한 긴팔 도안입니다.
