Rather than covering the old tattoo with heavy darkness, this cover-up was built by redirecting its flow through the pine trunk and ink-like washes.
Instead of describing the subject in a strictly realistic way, I approached it through the expressive language of literati painting — focusing on the meaning and atmosphere carried by the pine tree.
The direction of the branches, the contrast between light and dark ink tones, and the density of the pine needles were used to create the overall mood.
The pine tree was arranged to follow the natural side line of the body, while the traces of the previous tattoo were worked into the deepest, darkest parts of the ink expression.
기존 타투를 무겁게 덮기보다, 소나무 줄기와 먹의 번짐을 이용해 흐름을 다시 잡은 커버업 작업입니다.
문인화 특유의 사실적 표현이 아닌, 대상이 지닌 의미를 생각하며 표현하는 사의적 표현으로 형태를 전부 설명하기보다 소나무가 가진 의미와 분위기를 생각하며 표현하고자 했습니다.
가지의 방향, 먹의 밝고 어두운 농담, 그리고 솔잎의 밀도로 분위기를 만들었습니다.
몸의 옆선에 맞춰 소나무가 자연스럽게 놓이도록 정리했고, 기존의 흔적은 문인화의 농담 표현 중 먹이 가장 짙게 모이는 부분과 이어지도록 작업했습니다.
